Zen Landscape in Kayenta
For Rich and Bonnie’s landscape in Kayenta we created a zen-like atmosphere in their front courtyard. Working as a landscaper in Ivins means you almost always have to incorporate some red sandstone to match Ivins’ Red Mountain. The mountain is visible from just about every home in Ivins. So we incorporated the landscape of Ivins surrounding the home into the features of their backyard. We built a lovely little water feature that will be framed by the Red Mountain as they look out their back windows. And there will also be ground-level fire features in both the back and side yards.
The Challenges of Landscapes in Ivins and Kayenta
Like many other communities in southern Utah, Kayenta has a strict set of community covenants and restrictions. Kayenta’s CC&Rs are designed to ensure the homes in Kayenta blend into the landscape of Ivins surrounding them. Of course, when a homeowner wants to incorporate their own personality into the landscape of their home, this can present challenges. And this project was no exception. We had to ensure, through trial and error, that the white trail of rocks in the zen courtyard out front wasn’t visible from the road. It had to be completely hidden by the wall surrounding and not seen through the slats in the gate. But we managed to successfully complete the project. We’re happy to see this landscape project in Kayenta turn out so amazingly well. And we look forward to creating more beautiful landscapes in Kayenta.
