Help Conserve Water in St. George, Washington County and Throughout Utah
Waterwise landscape rebates in St. George and Washington County are available! So you can apply for rebates of $2 per square foot for all the grass you remove and replace with synthetic turf, xeriscape, or any other waterwise landscaping!
During the 2022 Utah legislative session, lawmakers voted to provide the Division of Water with $5 million to implement a statewide grass removal rebate program.
The grass-removal rebate program encourages Utah residents to keep grass lawns only where they will be actively used. Instead, Utah residents are asked to implement waterwise landscaping, such as xeriscaping or artificial turf.
In Washington County, the waterwise landscaping rebate program is facilitated through the Washington County Water Conservancy District. You can follow this link to apply: https://www.wcwcd.org/conservation/rebates/water-efficient-landscape-rebate/
Statewide, the program is being offered through Utah Water Savers in spring 2023.
The Utah Division of Water is partnering with Central Utah, Jordan Valley, Washington County, and Weber Basin Water Conservancy Districts to increase program awareness, and funding and to develop program requirements. These requirements include waterwise landscape standards for new residential developments. Residents in areas that have adopted qualifying landscape standards can apply for state rebate funding.
The waterwise landscaping rebates in St. George aren’t the only rebates available. A list of eligible cities, information for communities interested in adopting water-efficient landscape policy, and information about rebate applications are found on the Division of Water’s website.
